Path of Exile Item Upgrading
Players can upgrade their weapons and equipment using new accessories. They can also increase its base stats or add additional benefits. To upgrade an item, a player has to have it in their inventory as well as access to the kiln.
Typically items with weak bases (like rings) can be upgraded to a stronger base while items with strong bases such as eth titans aren't affected in their stats following being upgraded.
Upgrade components
Upgrade components can be added to weapons, armors trinkets, weapons, and gathering tools. They provide an attribute bonus or extra effect, while the equipment is being used. They can be purchased from vendors, or found in loot, thrown away by enemies, or obtained as a reward from missions or chests. Some upgrades additionally have special cosmetic effects. Most upgrades require that the equipment be at a certain level to upgrade.
In order to upgrade the quality of a weapon or piece armor, the user must select it, and then click the Upgrade button in the toolbar. This will show on the right-hand side of the screen a preview of the expected upgrade statistics and the required component or materials.
There are three types that are universal upgrades (which include gems) Prefix upgrades and suffix upgrade components. Universal upgrades, such as gems, are able to be placed on any type of equipment. They offer a lesser bonus than upgrade components that have a specific type restriction. Infusions are jewels that are only available in legendary and ascended equipment. They offer the same benefits as jewels, but cannot be used in other equipment. Suffix upgrades that can be put in gathering tools, add their name to the end of the name of the item they are connected to, for example adding a Glyph to the Staff Wrapping of Minor Vigor will change it to a Canthan Staff Wrapping of Minor Vigor.
If the player upgrades their gathering tool, and then replaces the glyphs by a different one the old one will be returned to their inventory. If you replace any other upgrade component the item will be destroyed, with the exception for the inscriptions that can be swapped freely.
Leveling
The upgrade system in Path of Exile has some significant changes from earlier versions. Gear is now categorized in tracks and each item is able to be upgraded so many times before it's "leveled out." The costs for upgrading increase with each level, however the materials required do not. This allows players to focus their efforts on a few items and maximize the impact of those items, rather than spreading the cost of upgrades across several pieces.
This allows the item to receive new upgrade components and a greater chance of success. This bonus is known as the Artisan’s Energy and it resets to 0 if the upgrade fails or increases when the upgrade succeeds.
When a piece is upgraded to the maximum level, it can receive the affixes needed to enhance its abilities. The number of affixes available will depend on the type of item it is. For instance an uncommon or rare weapon with a base that is normal will have no more than two affixes for it, whereas legendary armors will have up to eight affixes available for it.
Each upgrade step requires a certain number of Flightstones or Crests, based on the type of item at its current level and what slot it is in. In general, weapons will require more Flightstones to upgrade than other types of equipment.
If an item is not able to attain its maximum level, the NPC will give players the option to transfer it to a different character and re-infuse it with a different set of upgrades. This process can take up to two hours and costs the same amount of materials however it will have less chance of success.
Engineers will employ a level to measure the height of the building against an established location, such as the benchmark. This is referred to as a "level-loop." This involves taking readings using the level, backsighting rod, and then turning the level to take the foresighting rod reading. This method ensures that buildings are constructed to a high level of safety and accuracy.
Rerolling
Rerolling refers to the process of changing an item's upgrade components. It is a crucial aspect of the game and can dramatically enhance an item's strength, damage, or other attributes. You can do this through the menu for items or by pressing the Reroll button when you upgrade an item. Rerolling an item can be costly and should be used sparingly.
The game lets players recycle upgraded items, and use them to obtain Reroll tokens. These tokens can be used to upgrade the original item or a similar item. Recyclable items come with a level gauge that shows how much of the upgrade gauge has been filled. The amount of level that has been filled is based on the rarity and upgrade cost of the item.
Prior to this, some upgrade item s were given priority affixes which made them more accessible for players to roll. It meant that you'd get the most crucial stats for your build more frequently than others. This included things like the armor's total armor, thorns, and duration reduction statistics that were controlled or the weapon's bonus attack speed and critical strike chance.
This has changed since the most recent patch. Priority affixes have been removed and all upgrades will have the same chances of rolling for every stat. This can be good or bad, depending on what you're looking for and want from your equipment.
Each upgraded item can have a unique fixed-value bonus that boosts its power by a specific percentage. These bonuses are rolled in addition to the usual affixes. The more you upgrade an item, the greater chances of obtaining the bonus of your choice.
The game also has a number sets that grant a bonus when three or four upgraded items from the set are placed on an item. This is a great method of giving an individual character more power without spending a lot of money.
Many players choose to reroll their gear and weapons, particularly in the early stages of the game. This is because rerolling can give players a faster path to a powerful character which allows them to achieve high tiers and progress the game faster.
Sets

Sets are collections that can be set up differently. They can be different sizes, have none of the elements, or have a single element. They can be utilized to organize data or organize information. They are also useful in analyzing patterns. Sets can be classified in a variety of ways in terms of size and shape.
The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom provides an array of upgradeable set items. Some are worth upgrading, others aren't. Upgrades are worthwhile for armor sets that offer high defense values and set bonuses. However, weapon upgrades often do not boost the item's stats much in comparison to their purple counterparts. This makes them less attractive to upgrade if you have many weapons or armor pieces already.
Some set items are upgraded to meet their unique procs which can be beneficial in certain builds. This is evident in Aldur's Advance Boots and Guillaume's Face. Both were upgraded to Extraordinary Winged Helms and Exceptional Mirrored Boots, respectively. This increased their defense from 217 to 321. (Strength requirements and Level requirements were also increased).
Upgrades can also be done to bring certain items up to par with the different tiers. For instance the Immortal King set has a large level range, between 29 and 76. Upgrading lower-level set items can boost their defense and make them more competitive in terms of damage.
Clicking the Upgrade button will display the item's attributes and the necessary items needed to upgrade it. The item will be displayed with its features, as well as the items needed to upgrade it. To upgrade the No-mouth face for example, 1.1K Scrap Materials will be required, 250 Enchanted Dust and 5 Glowing Shards. Alternatively, players can visit the Leaderboard or Golden vendor in Cyrodiil to check the upgrade requirements of specific items.
Generally speaking the jewelry and weapons have better trade value when fully upgraded than armor. Upgrades to gold are recommended for weapons that have spell/weapon-damage glyphs. This will result in a significant increase in their stats. The armor that has a new appearance will also benefit from this as its defense value will increase as it moves from purple to gold.
